It’s All in the Details: A Primary Bathroom Renovation Reveal

We recently completed a primary bathroom renovation for a returning client, and the transformation was nothing short of incredible.

When this client first came to us, they brought a Pottery Barn inspiration photo and said, “We love this look.” And we loved that because inspiration is where great design begins, but at StyleHouse, we don’t just replicate inspiration. We refine it. We elevate it. We tailor it to your space, your lifestyle, and your long-term goals.

What started as a single inspiration image became something even better than they imagined, layered, functional, timeless, and uniquely theirs. Follow along to see how thoughtful design decisions completely shifted the feeling of this bathroom.

A Whole New Atmosphere

The style didn’t just change, the entire mood of the room changed. At our client’s request, we kept the chandelier but everything around it evolved. Here’s what made the biggest impact:

• Removing the dated plant shelves. By drywalling all the way to the ceiling, the space actually feels taller and cleaner, even though we didn’t gain square footage.
• Replacing the block windows. We installed a frosted privacy window that floods the room with natural light while maintaining privacy.
• Updating the tub. The previous round tub wasted valuable floor space and made the bench hard to access. The new oval tub fits the footprint beautifully and improves resale value.
• Reworking the flooring. The old tub surround interrupted the flooring flow. Since we didn’t have enough of the original material to patch it seamlessly, we selected a large-scale tile that grounds the color palette and visually expands the space.

Small structural edits. Massive visual impact.

The Vanities: Where Function Meets Beauty

When we design for our clients, we prioritize function just as much as aesthetics.

Here’s what changed:

• Builder-grade mirrors were replaced with modern LED-lit medicine cabinets, more light, more storage, double win!
• We sourced a warm wood vanity with satin nickel hardware to create the cozy, organic look our client loved.
• We added hand towel rings and open shelving for folded body towels, because storage should feel intentional, not like an afterthought.
• Quartz countertops tie the vanities back to the bench and shower inserts. At StyleHouse, we love quartz for its durability and clean look.
• A fluted vertical wall tile adds texture and height behind the vanities.
• To stay mindful of budget, we reused the existing sink faucets and vanity light, repositioned downward to create better illumination and a softer glow.

Beauty. Storage. Lighting. Budget balance. That’s strategic design.

More Open — In More Ways Than One

Space was a major priority for our clients. The previous swing door into the closet consumed valuable floor area. We replaced it with a frosted glass pocket door, which:

• Eliminated clearance issues
• Improved circulation
• Tied in beautifully with the new frosted window

We also shortened the shower slightly to allow for a wider walkway and additional towel storage. Sometimes gaining space isn’t about adding square footage, it’s about designing smarter.

Functional & Timeless Layers

To the left of the tub, we removed the dark, heavy tile and introduced subtle wallpaper to soften the space. The original tub height made the bench nearly unusable. The new lower oval tub allowed the bench to finally function beautifully, and comfortably.

Notice how the quartz continues from the vanity to the bench top, tying everything together. Even the tub faucet was relocated for better functionality.

It’s these details that elevate a space from “renovated” to refined.

Every Layer Coordinates

The shower became a true showpiece.

• A new shower floor tile pulls in warm taupe tones along with the quartz look.
• The back bench continues into the shower for visual flow.
• Porcelain wall tile with natural variation creates subtle movement and depth.

We love working with materials that have variation, each piece contributes to a layered, custom feel.

Even the Small Spaces Matter

At StyleHouse, we don’t skip the small spaces.

The water closet received coordinating wallpaper with a large-scale print, adding personality without overwhelming the room. New trim and baseboards throughout the bathroom create crisp, modern lines that frame the entire design.

No detail is too small.
